Playtime in Colonial Times

What did children do for fun before toy stores, batteries, and screens? Come discover the creative ways children in colonial America made their own toys using natural and everyday materials! In our fall family workshop, families will explore how Indigenous traditions and knowledge influenced early American life and learn the history behind corn husk dolls.

Then it’s your turn! Each family will create two authentic and unique corn husk dolls to take home! All ages are welcome; though younger children may need a helping hand with construction.
